Don was elected to Borough Council in 1998.
VICE PRESIDENT OF COUNCIL
L. James Roberts, Jr.
Jim was born in Quakertown Hospital in 1944 and has lived his entire life in the Borough. Having served since 1984 on Borough Council, he has been involved with most aspects of local government. He has served as either Vice-President or President of Council for over 20 years.
He currently is a member of the Board of Trustees of St. Luke’s Quakertown Hospital, where he has served since 2000. As an owner of the Friendly Book Store and a past president of the Upper Bucks Chamber of Commerce, he has been active in the Quakertown business community since 1974.
Married for over 50 years, he and his wife Donna are the parents of 2 adult sons. He is active in Grace Bible Fellowship Church where he serves as an Elder and teacher.
MEMBERS OF COUNCIL
Michael Johnson
Mike was elected to Borough Council in 2008.
Mike was born and raised in Quakertown. He graduated from Quakertown Community High School in 1974. He attended Kings College in Wilkes-Barre, PA and received a BA Degree in Criminal Justice in 1978. In 1997 he attended the FBI National Academy.
He worked as a Deputy Sheriff for Bucks County from 1978 to 1980. From 1980 to 2009 Mike worked for Doylestown Township Police Department, and promoted to Sergeant in 1988. In 2009 he retired as a Sergeant with Doylestown Township and hired by Plumstead Township Police Department as a Patrolman.
He and his wife Rosanne have three children who all graduated from Quakertown High School. Mike was involved as a coach in local youth sports teams, both baseball and soccer for twelve years. He coached the Junior Varsity baseball team from 2005 to 2008.
Dave Wilsey
Dave was elected into council in 2018
David was born in Quakertown and graduated in the class of 1971 from Quakertown Community High School. He is a graduate of Upper Bucks Technical School in the Culinary Arts. David worked at Meyer’s Restaurant and CD Moyer’s before moving to Colorado where he became head chef at various restaurants.
Upon returning to Quakertown he started Bucks County Balloon Adventures and served the public with hot air balloon rides and marketing venues from 1981 until 1992.
David, and his wife Sue, opened the Karlton Cafe in July 1999 on Broad Street in downtown Quakertown. .David was the chef-owner until the restaurant was sold in October 2004
He then started his own trucking company, Dave Wilsey Transportation which he operated for 5years.
David and Sue have been married 37 years (2025) and have a son, daughter-in-law and a grandson who live in Maine, a son who graduated from Quakertown High School and is serving in the Coast Guard and a daughter who is a Quakertown High School graduate and has graduated from college.
David was elected to Borough Council for the term of 2005-2008, is a former Planning Commission Member, former business owner, pilot, and commercial driver. David is a member of Providence Presbyterian Church of Quakertown.
Jonathan Sell
Jon has been on borough council since 2018.
Jon was born at Grandview Hospital and grew up in Souderton. He has lived in the Quakertown area since 2008. He has been in the construction industry since 1998 and has had his own residential remodeling business since 2010.
Jon has been married to his wife Melissa since 2003 and they have three children.
Mae Wear
Mae was elected into council in 2018
Mae was born on a dairy & tobacco farm in Highland County, Hillsboro Ohio; the oldest and only girl of 4 children. Having graduated from Edward Lee McClain High School in Greenfield, Ohio she entered the U.S. Navy shortly after graduation and served as an Airman until her honorable discharge in 1962. Her military service took her to Bainbridge, Maryland and Pensacola, FL where she met and married William Wear, Jr from Hazleton, PA. They were married for 15 years and had two children, both graduates of Quakertown High School. Mae's son Billy is a popular musician and he returned to the Quakertown area from San Diego to perform. Mae's daughter Terri resides and works in Quakertown. Although Mae and William divorced in 1977, they continued to live in the Quakertown area.
Mae enjoys her four grandchildren: Tyler, Erica, Steven, and Billy's daughter Charlotte who still lives in San Diego, and her two great-grandchildren. The oldest attends Quakertown's Joseph Neidig Elementary.
Mae has lived in Pensacola, FL, Jacksonville, FL, Corpus Christie, Texas, and moved to Quakertown in 1969. While residing in Quakertown, she has been employed at PSG Industries in Perkasie, Crouthamel's Potato Chip Company, the Free Press, and retired after twenty years with the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission as a toll collector where she was a shift leader supervisor in 2001.
Mae is currently employed by Penn Builders. She is a member of the Quakertown United Methodist Church and has been a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Quakertown and the Church of Christ in Richlandtown, where both Billy and Terri were confirmed. Mae received her Bachelor's Degree in Theology from Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington, NC in 2007. Mae volunteers with the Quakertown Train Station Historical Society.
