BOROUGH OF QUAKERTOWN RESPONDS TO SIGNIFICANT FLOODING FOLLOWING SEVERE OVERNIGHT RAINFALL
QUAKERTOWN, PA — July 29, 2026 — The Borough of Quakertown responded to significant flooding throughout the community Tuesday evening and into Wednesday morning following an estimated 6–7 inches of rainfall over the course of several hours.
As rainfall intensified and flooding conditions worsened, the Borough activated its emergency operations center to coordinate the response and protect the safety of residents. The response involved multiple Borough departments, emergency services, neighboring fire departments, and outside agencies.
The Quakertown Fire Department responded to 18 emergency calls, including the rescue of nine individuals and two pets from vehicles in floodwater. Fire crews also responded to three additional non-emergency calls and assisted with evaluating flooded areas throughout the Borough. The Borough extends its appreciation to the Sellersville Fire Department, which provided a high-water rescue truck and personnel to assist with the response.
The Quakertown Police Department responded to 34 calls for service related to the flooding. Officers assisted residents in affected areas, monitored rising water and other hazards, and managed road closures and reopening as conditions changed and roadways became safe for travel.
Eight homes were evacuated as a result of the flooding. The Borough's Electric Department assisted with the evacuations by safely disconnecting power from affected properties. The department also remained proactive throughout the storm, addressing electrical concerns and helping maintain service, with limited power interruptions reported.
As part of the emergency response, West End Fire Company was established as a temporary shelter for residents who were evacuated from their homes. The American Red Cross also responded to the Borough to meet with evacuated residents and provide information, resources, and assistance.
Following the storm, Borough crews immediately began the recovery and assessment process. The Highway Department is working throughout the community to remove debris and address areas impacted by the flooding. Code Enforcement is continuing to evaluate properties and areas throughout the Borough to assess damage and identify any ongoing concerns.
The Borough recognizes the coordinated efforts of its emergency services and utility departments throughout this event. The Police Department, Fire Department, Electric Department, Highway Department, Code Enforcement, and other Borough personnel worked together throughout the evening and into the morning to respond to emergencies, assist residents, secure affected properties, and begin the recovery process. The Borough also appreciates the assistance provided by neighboring emergency responders and the American Red Cross.

Residents whose properties sustained interior flooding are encouraged to contact Code Enforcement at 215-536-5001 and select Code Enforcement or email codeadmin@quakertown.org if they would like their property evaluated or have questions regarding damage.
Bucks County Emergency Management is also conducting a Storm Damage Assessment Survey. Residents and property owners affect by the storm are encouraged to submit a report. The survey takes approximately 5 minutes to complete if you have your information ready. You will be asked to provide your contact information, location, and basic demographic information. You will also be asked to describe the damage, upload photos of the affected areas, and estimate the cost of repairs, if known. The information collected through this survey will be used by Bucks County, your municipality, and the Commonwealth to help assess the location and extent of storm-related damage. You may be contacted based on the information you submit.
Residents should also contact their homeowner’s insurance provider to report property damage and determine what next steps may be required.

The Borough understands that many residents are dealing with the effects of last night's storm and appreciates the community's patience as cleanup and assessments continue. Borough crews will remain in the field addressing storm-related issues and will provide additional information as it becomes available.
