Beginning January 1, 2026, the Borough of Quakertown will increase its sewer rates from $0.0065 per gallon to $0.01 per gallon. This change will support the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the community’s system, which safely collects, treats, and returns treated wastewater to the environment. A household using 1,500 gallons of water per month, the adjustment will increase the monthly sewer bill from approximately $15.75 to $21.00. Even with the rate increase the Borough remains 15-20% below the average rate of all of our neighboring communities.
This increase is needed to keep up with the rising costs of operating and maintaining an aging wastewater system. These funds will help cover essential expenses such as system repairs, equipment replacement, chemicals, and upgrades that ensure continued compliance with environmental regulations.
As the Borough continuously attempts to keep all our utility rates competitive with minimal increases, this adjustment is necessary to keep our wastewater system safe, reliable, and environmentally responsible. This rate increase goes directly toward maintaining the infrastructure that protects public health and our community’s waterways.
In recent years, the cost of materials, equipment, and labor required to maintain wastewater facilities has steadily increased. The Borough has worked to delay this adjustment as long as possible by managing expenses carefully, but additional revenue is now needed to ensure continued reliable service.
