QUAKERTOWN BOROUGH HONORED WITH STATEWIDE RECOGNITION DURING PARKS AND RECREATION MONTH
QUAKERTOWN, PA — Quakertown Borough has been named one of three municipalities in Pennsylvania to be recognized by the Pennsylvania Recreation and Park Society (PRPS) during National Parks and Recreation Month.
As part of the honor, Quakertown Borough will host Parks and Recreation Professionals Day on Friday, July 18, celebrating the people, partnerships, and programs that bring its parks to life. This year the national theme, “Build Together, Play Together” highlights the role parks play in creating strong, connected communities.
The day includes a guided facility tour for state and local representatives (9:00am-11:30am) of QuiNBy playground, Quakertown Pool, Univest Performance Center, and Free Fall Action Park with project partners from KOMPAN, Vortex, Myrtha, and Free Fall on site.
A recognition ceremony will follow at 11:45am at the Memorial Park (600 W. Mill Street) featuring remarks from:
- DCNR Deputy Secretary Claire Jantz
- Representative from Senator Coleman’s Office
- Quakertown Borough Council
- Pennsylvania Recreation and Parks Society
- PRPS Good Job Award Presentation to Dave Kratz of Free Fall
“Being recognized by the Pennsylvania Recreation and Park Society is a true honor, but the real reward is seeing the impact our programs and parks have on people’s lives,” said Ashton Miller, Director of Parks and Recreation. “We’re excited to shine a light on the incredible work our team does, the beautiful spaces we care for, and the sponsors and community partners who believe in our mission. This day is a celebration of the people, partnerships, and passion that bring our parks to life.”
In true community spirit, the public is invited to join in the celebration with three events happening throughout the day:
- Shade Tree Story Time – 9:30am-10:00am at Memorial Park
- Bounce Time with My Size City – 11:00am-2:00pm at Memorial Park
- Arrival From Sweden: The Music of ABBA Concert – 6:00pm at the Univest Performance Center (Tickets are available for purchase at UnivestPerformanceCenter.com
Throughout the month of July, the community can also enjoy a full lineup of events including Find it Fridays, QuiNBY Summerfest, Movie in the Park, Free Concerts in the Park, K.I.D.S. Camp, and the Sounds of Summer Concert Series.
Quakertown’s parks are more than places to play—they are where community happens, and Parks and Recreation Month is the perfect time to celebrate the people and programs that make it all possible.
