Position Overview

Camp Counselors are responsible for providing active supervision, guidance, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all campers throughout the camp day. This role builds positive relationships, leads engaging activities, promotes inclusion and teamwork, and models respectful and responsible behavior. Counselors work collaboratively with camp staff while participating in ongoing professional development to support a safe, structured, and high-quality camp experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision, guidance, and always ensure the safety and well-being of campers.
  • Build positive relationships with campers, promoting a sense of belonging and camaraderie.
  • Lead and participate in a variety of camp activities, including games, arts and crafts, sports, and nature exploration, while encouraging camper participation and creativity.
  • Adapt activities to accommodate the needs and interests of individual campers.
  • Monitor camper behavior and intervene as necessary to address conflicts, promote positive interactions, and ensure adherence to camp rules and expectations, serving as a role model for campers by demonstrating respect, responsibility, and good sportsmanship.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to coordinate activities and address camper needs and concerns.
  • Maintain weekly individual job responsibilities and perform all physical activities associated with the camp program.
  • Participate in scheduled professional development sessions and check-ins with their respective Head Counselor or Camp Supervisor to strengthen leadership, teamwork, and youth development skills, ensuring continued growth as a counselor.

Requirements

  • Ability to pass all clearances (Child abuse history, FBI Background, Criminal history)
  • Availability to work Monday-Friday from 8:30am-3:30pm, June 22- August 7
  • Availability to prep for camp throughout the week of June 15 – June 19.
  • Availability to work outside of the designated start and end dates
  • Availability to come early/stay late outside of your projected workday if needed.
  • Expresses an interest in gaining experience toward a future degree or career working with children in education, recreation, coaching, or youth development fields.
  • Outgoing personality with strong interpersonal skills and professionalism.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit, stand, move about, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, lift up to 30 pounds, push, carry, and pull up to 80% of the day. Capacity to withstand prolonged periods of outdoor activities with campers.

Job Location

This position is located at Quakertown Memorial Park located at 600 W. Mill Street, Quakertown and Jane Stover Lodge located at 50 N. 4th Street, Quakertown.
